Bourbon Caramel Peach Ice Cream is a luscious and creamy dessert that combines the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with rich caramel and a subtle hint of bourbon. This homemade ice cream features cooked peaches in a buttery caramel sauce, churned with fresh cream for a smooth and indulgent treat perfect for warm weather or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Caramel

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup bourbon

Ice Cream Base

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, heat 1 cup of sugar over medium heat, swirling occasionally, until it melts and turns a deep amber color. Carefully add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and stir until melted and combined, forming a rich caramel sauce.
  2. Cook the Peaches: Add the 4 cups of sliced peaches to the caramel sauce and cook for about 5–7 minutes until the peaches are softened and coated in caramel. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup of bourbon. Allow the mixture to cool completely.
  3. Make the Ice Cream Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup whole milk, and 1/2 cup sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Churn the Ice Cream: Pour the cooled peach and caramel mixture along with the bourbon into the cream mixture. Stir to combine. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Freeze: Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute bourbon with whiskey or skip the alcohol for a kid-friendly version.
  • For extra texture, reserve some caramelized peaches to fold in after churning.
  • Use ripe, sweet peaches for the best flavor.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, try freezing the mixture in a shallow container and stirring every 30 minutes until firm.
