Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

Filling

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Add the pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt, stirring until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into squares, approximately 4×4 inches each.
  3. Assemble the Danishes: Place a spoonful of the pumpkin and cream cheese filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold the corners of the pastry towards the center or create your desired shape, pinching edges to seal if necessary.
  4. Bake: Place the assembled Danishes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the Danishes to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Optionally, drizzle with glaze or sprinkle with powdered sugar for extra sweetness.

Notes

  • Use frozen puff pastry thawed according to package instructions for convenience.
  • For a sweeter filling, increase sugar to 1/3 cup.
  • Try adding a drizzle of icing made from powdered sugar and milk once cooled for an elegant finish.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
