Brownie Batter
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/3 cup Guinness Stout beer
- 2 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted and cooled
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Ganache
- 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 tbsp salted butter
- 4 tbsp Guinness Stout beer
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the brownies.
- Prepare Pan: Grease a 9×9 square baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving handles on two opposite sides to easily lift the brownies out after baking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the vegetable oil, Guinness Stout beer, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed.
- Add Melted Butter: Pour in the melted and cooled salted butter and mix thoroughly to blend.
- Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Mix Dry & Wet: Gradually add the dry flour and cocoa mixture into the wet ingredients, folding together until just combined to form the brownie batter.
- Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out smoothly.
- Bake Brownies: Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Make Ganache: Place semi-sweet chocolate chips, salted butter, and Guinness Stout beer into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, then continue microwaving in 30-second intervals stirring between until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
- Add Powdered Sugar to Ganache: Add the powdered sugar to the melted ganache and whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Apply Ganache: Pour the ganache over the cooled brownies and spread into an even layer.
- Chill and Set: Place the ganache-covered brownies in the refrigerator to chill until the ganache is firmly set.
- Serve: Remove brownies from the pan using the parchment paper handles, cut into 12 even bars, and serve.
Notes
- Ensure the melted butter is cooled before mixing with eggs to prevent cooking them prematurely.
- Do not overmix the batter once the flour is added to keep the brownies tender.
- Use a toothpick to check doneness; a few moist crumbs indicate perfect fudginess.
- Microwaving the ganache in intervals and stirring ensures smooth, lump-free chocolate.
- Chilling the ganache helps it to set properly and enhances the texture and flavor.
