Brussels Sprouts
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon chipotle powder
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleaning easier.
- Roast Brussels sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts with extra virgin olive oil until they are evenly coated. Spread them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, cut side down. Roast in the oven for 10 minutes, then flip them over and roast for an additional 10-15 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
- Prepare the sauce: While the sprouts are roasting, whisk together the melted unsalted butter, chili powder, paprika, chipotle powder, kosher salt, red pepper flakes, honey, and maple syrup in a small bowl until fully combined.
- Toss Brussels sprouts in sauce: Once the Brussels sprouts are finished roasting, remove them from the oven and while they are still hot, toss them immediately in the prepared spicy-sweet butter sauce to coat evenly.
- Serve warm: Transfer the coated Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Make sure to spread the sprouts in a single layer to ensure even roasting and crispy edges.
- Adjust the red pepper flakes and chili powder to control the spiciness according to your preference.
- This recipe pairs well with steak, chicken, or can be enjoyed as a flavorful side dish by itself.
- Use fresh Brussels sprouts for the best texture and flavor.
- For a vegan version, replace butter with vegan butter or olive oil.
